Start your ride in the middle of Lamar Valley, the Serengetti of Yellowstone, where it is possible to spot one of the many animal species that inhabit the Park. Your trip takes you up the Lamar River.

Fly fish renown Slough Creek, access the upper meadows horseback and let the horses do the hard work! Cutthroats abound in these waters
Pebble Creek, (Yellowstone National Park)
Fish early runoff on Pebble Creek when other waters are still too high. Beautiful views of Cutoff and Wolverine Mountains.
Yellowstone River, (Yellowstone National Park)
Fly fish above Tower Falls, beautiful canyon and thermal features. Some off trail riding and rigorous hiking required.
Cache Creek, (Yellowstone National Park)
Fish the upper waters of Cache Creek, a tributary of the Lamar River. Scenery is magnificent.
*We are NOT limited to these areas for day rides, however we try and stick to the Northeast section of Yellowstone.
*Fly fishing equipment rental available. Licenses may be purchased inside Yellowstone and at area businesses in Cooke City. They are $15 for a 3 day permit, $25 for a 7 day permit, and $35 for a seasonal permit.

BASE CAMP TRIPS: Horseback ride and pack into one site where your camp will be set up to base your pack trip and adventure out of From there you are set up for day rides, hiking, fishing, photographing, exploring, or just relaxing in camp! Please note that you are not limited to these select trip options. You may request a different trip itinerary of your choice. We operate throughout Yellowstone National Park.
Slough Creek, Frenchy’s Meadow (Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness)
Begin your ride at Daisy Pass (9,000 ft elevation) and experience many awe-inspiring views as you make your way to your final destination and base camp. 15 miles in, 3 nights at base camp, 15 miles out
Slough Creek, 3rd Meadow (Yellowstone National Park)
This horseback trip starts at the Slough Creek trailhead in Yellowstone National Park and continues to the infamous 3rd meadow, where you will make camp your home for the next 3 nights. Great fishing opportunities; this area is renown and therefore books fast. 8 miles in, 3 nights at base camp, and 8 miles out
Cache Creek (Yellowstone National Park)
Cache Creek is a tributary of Lamar River in the northeast corner of Yellowstone National Park. Although not a far trip in, it is unlikely to be alone in this beautiful drainage. Base camp in a gorgeous meadow under Thunderer Ridge, it is small water, but great cutthroat fly fishing possibilities await. 8 miles in, 3 nights at base camp, 8 miles out
Miller Creek (Yellowstone National Park)
Another tributary of Lamar River, base camp close to the confluence of Lamar and Miller Creek allowing for fishing and exploring opportunities of both waters. 10 miles in, 3 nights at base camp, 10 miles out
Upper Lamar (Yellowstone National Park)
Ride through the Lamar River Valley, the Serengeti of Yellowstone National Park, where all of the Park’s animal species are a possible siting. Progress up the Lamar and base camp will be set up for you to call home for the next 3 nights. 12 miles in, 3 nights at base camp, 12 miles out
Basin Creek (Yellowstone National Park)
Located in the southeast section of Yellowstone National Park, a very scenic ride takes you down into Heart Lake and Basin Creek at the base of Mount Sheridan. High thermal activity on the ride in, base camp in lush Basin Creek meadows. Great riding and hiking opportunities. 14 miles in, base camp 3 nights, 14 miles out
$300 + 3% tax/ day/ person. Does not include staff gratuities.
Each trip includes 2 night’s lodging (a night before and after your pack trip), breakfast the morning of your departure and supper upon your return.

5 DAYS – 10 DAYS
PROGRESSIVE TRIPS: These trips cover more miles and require more days out, enabling you to see more territory. Generally ride 8-10 miles on travel days and usually arranged for a day of rest in between each move of camp to explore the area horseback, hiking, fishing, shooting photos, or relaxing and just enjoying your remote surroundings.

Upper Lamar, out Mist Creek (Yellowstone National Park)
Begin your ride through the Lamar River Valley, the Serengeti of Yellowstone National Park, where all of the Park’s animal species are a possible siting. Spend 2 nights on the Upper Lamar, fishing, relaxing, hiking and taking in the beauty and solitude and progress up the Lamar to the confluence of Mist Creek. Spend your second camp well into the backcountry on Mist Creek for 2 nights, then crest out at Mist Pass and descend into Pelican Valley, a popular grizzly bear habitat, and end your trip at Yellowstone Lake. +/- 33 miles
Snake River to Heart Lake (Yellowstone National Park)
This Progressive trip begins at the south entrance of Yellowstone National Park and continues along the beautiful Snake River and up Heart River to Heart Lake in the shadows of stunning Mount Sheridan. Camps are on Snake River and Heart River. Ride out amongst thermal features above Heart Lake. +/- 34 miles
The Thorofare (Yellowstone National Park)
Experience the most remote country in the lower 48 by horseback in the Thorofare of the upper Yellowstone River in the southeast section of Yellowstone National Park. Camp on Lake Yellowstone and proceed into the headwaters of the lush Yellowstone River Valley amongst wildlife and breathtaking peaks. Enjoy the peace and solitude on this trip as you make your way further into the backcountry. +/- 60 miles
East Fork of the Boulder River (Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness)
Begin your trip at scenic Daisy Pass (9,000 ft elevation) and ride to Frenchy’s Meadow on renown Slough Creek just north of Yellowstone National Park. Spend 1-2 nights, and ride to the headwaters of Slough and descend into the East Fork of the Boulder River as you surround yourself with breathtaking views and absolute remoteness and solitude. Return to Frenchy’s meadow for your last night. Excellent fishing opportunities. +/-50 miles
Lake Plateau (Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness)
Begin your adventure at Daisy Pass and continue to Frenchy’s meadow, a renown fishing destination on Slough Creek, north of Yellowstone National Park. Then continue to the East Fork of the Boulder River and ascend up the Lake Plateau. Very remote and scenic high elevation lakes and mountain peaks. Make a loop as you descend into the Stillwater drainage (our namesake) and continue to head back to Daisy Pass. Lake and stream fishing opportunities. +/- 70 miles
All trips begin and end at our lodge near Cooke City, Montana and the northeast gate of Yellowstone National Park. Become acquainted with your fellow trip guests and do your last minute packing as you enjoy a comfortable bed and home cooked breakfast before your pack trip adventure begins... Upon your return, reminisce and delight in one last supper in our lodge dining room and spend one last night with us in our cozy cabins. Soak your muscles in our outdoor hot tub; Let the memories begin!!
